Interactive Café – “A Brave New World of Healthcare for Children and Youth: Changing the Script”

Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. They are the foundation of the “knowledge economy” and the oft-forgotten counterpoint to the dire warnings about aging society.

  • How do we ensure this generation grows up healthy, in body and in mind?
  • How do we a create a health system that responds to their needs and is sustainable and affordable?

CAPHC is honoured to welcome André Picard, one of Canada’s leading health and public policy observers and commentators and health reporter at The Globe and Mail, who will lead a panel of experts from the fields of education, medicine, mental health, community and political advocacy to engage in a lively debate that will bring forward some very provocative and future-oriented innovation!

In keeping with the 2011 Annual Conference theme “Exploring the Future of Children’s Health Care”, the power of this “highly interactive” setting will be our ability to access the collective wisdom and passion of our speakers and delegates in bringing forth new and innovative ideas that will lead to actions to answer these key questions.

CAPHC is delighted to welcome the following speakers to this session:

  • Mary Jo Haddad, President and CEO, The Hospital for Sick Children;
  • Ian Manion, Executive Director, Executive Director | Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health, Ottawa, ON
  • Gilles Julien, Social Pediatrician, President and CEO, Fondation du Dr Julien; Montreal, Quebec
  • Andy Cox, Mental Health Advocate, IWK Health Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia

12:00pm - 13:30pm:

Networking Lunch followed by Closing Ceremonies and a Peek at 2012 in Vancouver!

All delegates are welcome to join us for lunch as we reflect on this year’s Annual Conference in Ottawa and pass the torch to our 2012 Vancouver Conference Hosts!
